SGC Home
Welcome to the Summer Golf Championship website.
The SGC was founded in the spring of 2000 by David Etere & Mark Brittan whilst members at Little Hay Golf Club.
The inaugural SGC was played in the Algarve at the traditional end of June period and lasted 7 days. The original tour players were as below:
David Etere, Mark Brittan, Mark Smith, David Dakers, Charlie Norman, Paul Brittan
The courses played during the first year Pinhal, Laguna and the famous Old Course, all of which are located around the Vilamoura marina.
During a round at Pinhal Mark Smith sunk the first and only SGC hole in one to date.
Paul Brittan had the largest ever handicap for a round of golf in the history of the SGC (45). Paul still came last. Cant remember who won?
Amazingly David Etere who is 50 years old is playing better than some of the younger golfers in the SGC, notably Paul Brittan who is 10 years David’s junior, yet last time out David beat him by 13 shots.
